MMX 064 Memorial

Patriots Peace is a memorial on the banks of the Ohio River in Louisville, Kentucky, that was dedicated on Veterans Day 2002 to men and women from the region who died in the armed forces during times of peace. The memorial consists of a cube of four white brick walls, with an American flag etched on the north wall. For each fallen patriot honored, a brick is removed and replaced with a glass brick inscribed with the honoree’s name and service, which can be read from the interior of the monument. Each glass brick thus becomes a window through which light inward during the day and out into the community at night. The memorial was conceived by former Jefferson County Judge Rebecca Jackson and designed by David D. Quillin.
